Hear about Woodford’s early Patriot and Loyalist residents, including George Clymer, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, David Franks, who was arrested by Benedict Arnold for treason, Rebecca Franks, who danced and partied with British officers during the occupation of Philadelphia, Alexander Barclay, who as a Crown Customs official was responsible for collecting the hated Sugar Tax, and David Hayfield Conyngham, who was a hero of the American Revolution.

Heritage Day
Woodford will be joining with Laurel Hill Mansion and Ormiston to commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence with a special Heritage Day celebration. Historic reenactors will offer special tours of the Mansion, as well as demonstrations of Colonial era crafts. This will be ticketed event. Stay turned for further details.
Holiday Tours.
Throughout the month of December, Woodford will be offering free guided tours of the first floor of the Mansion, which will be festively decorated for the Season. Our neighboring historic houses – Laurel Hill Mansion, Historic Strawberry Mansion, and Ormiston Mansion will also be offering holiday tours during this season, so come and see them all!
